Stars, stripes and sparks: Fourth of July in La Jolla

If you’re looking to spend Independence Day in La Jolla Thursday, July 4, here are some ideas beyond the beach:

Beaumont Avenue Fourth of July Parade

The 45th annual Beaumont Avenue Fourth of July Parade will roll down Beaumont Avenue from Camino de la Costa to Mira Monte beginning at 10 a.m.

This Bird Rock community favorite draws thousands to cheer local family and business entrants walking, biking or “float”ing their way through the parade.

An “after party” at the parade route’s conclusion will feature food, live music, parade float awards, games and more.

La Jolla Country Club fireworks

The annual showcase of Independence Day fireworks by the La Jolla Country Club begins around 8:30 p.m., and is usually visible from several points throughout the Village and Mount Soledad neighborhoods.

La Jolla Shore drone show

Now in its second year, the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club and LJ STEAM Foundation drone show will launch from the club at 9 p.m. and will be visible from Kellogg Park, La Jolla Shores Hotel, the Cove and surrounding spots.

“Dirtiest Beach” day?

A reminder to all celebrating on the sand this Fourth of July: Surfrider Foundation deems July 5 the “dirtiest beach day of the year,” as leftover trash from Independence Day celebrations clog shorelines everywhere.

Please clean up after yourselves and leave La Jolla as lovely as you found it!
