Birch Aquarium at Scripps is bringing back Shark Snorkels, a guided program that hasn’t run since 2019. Led by aquarium educators, small groups snorkel through the shallow waters near Kellogg Park, getting an up-close look at leopard sharks, rays, and other species found along the local coastline.
The two-hour outing covers responsible snorkeling technique alongside details on the leopard sharks that gather in these waters each summer, plus the conservation efforts protecting them. Intermediate swimming ability is required, previous snorkeling experience is recommended, and participants bring their own mask, snorkel, and fins.
Open to ages 10 and up, with minors accompanied by a ticketed adult.
Membership pricing is $35, general admission is $40, and tickets go on sale August 1.
