Birch Aquarium at Scripps brings back Halloween Aglow for two family-friendly nights this October, transforming the aquarium after dark with Halloween festivities and ocean science.
The Adam R. Scripps Living Seas Gallery lights up for trick-or-treating, with glowing surprises tucked throughout the space. In the Boo and Goo Lab, guests can see and touch slimy marine creatures known for their ability to regenerate body parts. Birch Aquarium divers demonstrate underwater pumpkin carving, and pop-up science stations and classic arcade games round out the evening. The event also debuts the aquarium’s new Living Light Experience, spotlighting bioluminescent plankton and the biofluorescence of corals and anemones under ultraviolet light.
Costumes are encouraged. Tickets are $59.95 for adults and $49.95 for children, with kids age 2 and under admitted free; tickets go on sale September 17, separate from general admission, and aquarium members save 20%.
