Hungry for innovative dishes, hundreds gathered April 14 at The Lodge Torrey Pines for a sun-soaked Celebrate the Craft, the annual event where well-seasoned local chefs show off their skills.
At 21 years running, the food showcase gives gourmets and gourmands alike an up-close meet-and-greet with regional culinary talent, the best of local agriculture, premiere vineyards and more.
The dozens of stations served up dishes like a Tzaddik pork andouille Jambalaya with rabbit and squah (from Greg Frey at Golden Door Country Store, a La Bresse chicken roulade with mushroom farce, green garlic and jus (from Kaitlyn Weber and Paul Arias at Lodge parent company Evans Hotels) and a Halibut crudo with avocado, strawberry, nasturtium oil and chili (from Jason Knibb at Nine-Ten Restaurant & Bar in La Jolla), each paired with a taste of red or white wine.
From Deckman’s Restaurant Group raw bar to the mezcal kumquat macaron from Aly Lyng at George’s at the Cove, no taste bud went unaddressed.
Until next year, food artisans!
